New Group for Hiding BDNS Ads (on the Forum)
-
If you've visited this site recently on a PC or phone, you'll notice that we've added ads to help keep the site running. There's a lot of them though and they're annoying!
So if you join this group: https://browsedns.net/groups/hide-bdns-ads these ads they will not load while you're signed in. Please feel free to join.
(This does not affect the DNS itself blocking ads on other sites, mentioned in another topic. I'm still working on that! The group is only for the forum.)

Does it give less revenue for bdns if we do?
-
Technically it does give less, but don't let that stop you. For this forum, the Internet traffic from anonymous users (such as, users that google a technical issue and hit one of the topics here) should be enough to help offset the cost.
In the past, the DNS service itself had ads that were shown to Switch users, but Google started flagging the Switch browser agent as invalid traffic. So since then, the site has just been running out of pocket expenses.
I'm actually mostly okay with that (paying out of pocket, not the "invalid traffic" tagging...), but I am curious to see how much these ads make. So, that's why I think the group being a bit of an "open secret" if users don't want them is a good compromise.

I see, with the revenue approach do you plan to expand bdns in the future? Possibly a entire social media platform?
