[Switch Browser] So two things...
-
I have been using switchbru a lot and now I saw the change so I imeditaly changed lol. But two things with this and swichbru is that 1. it has a time limit 2. no videoplay back also, big oof on discord. So if there is any possible way to bypass this through code please let me know if these ever get patched. ps i love this i use it for checking amazon bc i hsve no phone or pc lol.

@Kit Yead sadly those things are things most people yearn for but sadly are limited due to several reason.
-
Video playback - blocked intentionally since fw 3.0 by Nintendo
-
Discord - the version of webkit packed into the switch does not have the ability to run discords bespoke code. Similarly to this very forum we have had to modify / polyfill code to make it work on the switch .. Its a limitation i don't think will ever get a fix.

the time-limit again is something Nintendo added since fiw 10 , there hasn't been much effort to RE this a*s yet , it may or may not be possible.. in time we will look for sure.
Im glad your finding it useful.

@pwsincd video playback was intentionally removed? yet theres YouTube for the Switch in eshop...
-
@SnowRunnerLegend Yeah essentially the applet we use is designed primarily for use when you might want to login to a hotel wifi for example where by you would be prompted with a web page to login , we essentially redirect this call to our servers .. this particular applet that have blocked the use of video tags and applied a time limit .. in which we can only assume was a direct attempt to limit ours and other DNS servers. Other applets have video access but are only accessed using homebrew and hacking your console.. see this post for info : https://browsedns.net/topic/26/homebrew-browser-access

Yep, this used to work very early on in 2017 but was disabled by Nintendo in an update for the WifiWebAuthApplet, which as pwsincd said is how the DNS browser works. More technical info on the different browser applets here.
Video playback does however still work in other applets, like the LoginApplet (this pops up when you click "Link to Twitter/Facebook") and NewsApplet (what the News app uses).
The LoginApplet's ability to play videos is almost useful, however it has a whitelist and will only work with certain top-level URLs (only Google, Facebook, Twitter). This trick is how the old SwitchTube worked (hosted on a Google Sites page, that you had to go through Facebook to get to) before the YouTube app was available.
For Discord, it's technically fixable on Discord's end if they provide a polyfill for the Switch's browser, but this isn't a priority for them either.
